A New Beginning

Looking back through the memories,
Listening to the echoes of times past,
I remember the bond between us,
And how the die was cast.

I remember every moment spent together,
Laughing, talking, playing, sleeping,
All the good times and the bad,
Every second of joy, every second spent weeping.

We were stuck in the wrong place
At the wrong time,
We didn't have a choice,
Was being together really such a crime?

Yet all that is in the past now,
And a new dawn breaks
Over the calm waters of my heart and mind,
Shining gently, healing all those weary aches.

You meant a lot to me,
You still do,
I'll never forget the memories we share,
But it's time for me to make some new ones too…
